A Jewish congregation which is welcoming to people of all backgrounds. We believe that the barriers to Jewish life need to be lowered. We know that Hebrew can be a barrier, so we transliterate. We know your family may not be Jewish, and we look forward to creating a comfortable home for them, also.
Located in the inner-Eastside of Portland, Oregon, we reflect the diversity of that community. We are a community which welcomes people of all genders, sexual orientations and identities.
We are multi-generational.
We join together to find fulfillment in spiritual experience, whether through traditional Jewish modes or less traditional modes.
We are also in the process of creating ourselves: we need you to help us come to fruition. If you’d like to be part of creating this community, contact us.
Dave,
Sounds like you’re starting a Jewish-based Unitarian-Universalist church, instead of the usual Christian-based model. Cool. I would join you if I were in Portland!
Erich
Erich,
I’m hoping that it will be a bit more Jewish than UU is Christian, but that’s definitely the balance that will need to be found by those who join me.
David
Good idea, I like Jewish stuff happening on the east side of Portland. I look forward to hearing more.
David,
We are entering our 8th year here in Narberth on the mainline, outside Philly. Realized it can be vitally Jewish, and universal at the same time. In fact, that’s what is at the heart of my thinking at least. I say kol ha’kavod, way to go. The ramp up wrt contract sounds super. Really sharp. Only love,
Yitzhak [Nates]
ps perhaps you remember me, would be only delighted to receive an email on any and all topics. One thought: don’t say yes to every request/idea. Portland sounds great. I have very close friends here, my accupuncturist, they miss Portland dearly.
